Tucked away into a corner of Campo Santo Stefano near Piazza San Marco, there’s a room like no other—barely 90 square feet wall-to-wall, it tells a story of its own.
Miss TV’s room is an intimate space in which Massimiliano Camellini negotiates a delicate balance, moving deftly between his desire to capture the intensely emotional impact of these surrounds and his need for clarity—keeping a detached eye as a photographer documenting a piece of history.
This room belonged to Margherita Vitalba, better known by her pet name Titti. Her doting daddy designed and decorated this bedroom as if it were a ship’s cabin for his daughter called Titti. Camellini’s lens lingers caressingly, poignantly on the details as if entranced by the meticulous father’s hand revealing his boundless love for his little girl. The retro appeal emanating from the room somehow prompts the mind to create a continuum between past and present. If the black and white photographic palate absorbs the colors of the florid fabrics and lamp shades, it does bring out other details such as the sheen of old porcelain light switches. Even the mirror sends a flash of the future snared in the here and now yet leaving ample room for the meandering imagination. Titti Vitalba lives on in this room, not only through her initials TV carved into the wood, but also through the daisy (Margherita means daisy in Italian) and the white grapevine engraved in the furniture (Vitalba refers to white grapes in Italian).
The journey continues through time and space and we can almost hear the gentle lapping of the lagoon below, rippling out to the open sea of creativity.

La serie Miss T.V.’s room è stata realizzata nel 2019-2021 nei suggestivi ambienti di SPARC* Spazio Arte Contemporanea a Venezia, che hanno ospitato la mostra di Massimiliano Camellini Al di là dell’acqua, a cura di Manuela De Leonardis e Andrea Tinterri (4 dicembre 2021 – 9 gennaio 2022). Per l’occasione è stata realizzata una cartella in edizione limitata (25 copie) contenente 7 immagini fotografiche 20×20 cm + un bookmark “profumato” con la fragranza ideata da Integra Fragrances.
Massimiliano Camellini (Venezia 1964, vive e lavora tra Reggio Emilia e Milano). Negli anni Novanta si avvicina alla fotografia di ricerca. Dal 2001 realizza progetti costituiti da serie di opere dedicate a temi universali, accompagnate dai rispettivi progetti editoriali. La prima serie è dedicata agli istinti e sogni dell’uomo: appartengono a questo ciclo Oltre le Gabbie (2001), I Volanti (2004), Duel (2006), Nuove Arene (2009), Il laboratorio dell’ossessione (2010), Ore 18.00, l’orario è finito (2012), Al di là dell’acqua (2016) e l’ultimo A ribbon and a prayer (2022). Segue la serie frammenti nel tempo, una ricerca nella realtà contemporanea di segnali spazio-temporali per un’indagine antropologica dell’evoluzione dei contesti urbani: Tram-Frame è il primo lavoro del ciclo. Le sue foto sono nelle collezioni museali di tutto il mondo tra cui Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, USA, Collezione Maramotti, Reggio Emilia, Galerie Municipale du Chateau d’Eau, Toulouse, Francia, Musée du Strasbourg, Francia, Museum of Photography, Seoul, Korea, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Torino.
